SERTOMA is an acronym for SERvice TO MANkind. Sertoma exists for the high and noble purpose of service to mankind by communication of thoughts, ideas and concepts to accelerate human progress in health, education, freedom, and democracy. Georgetown Sertoma raises money through local community service projects. These funds are returned back to the community in the form of contributions and scholarships. We care about our country (National Heritage), our city (Community Events), and our residents (Hearing and Speech, Youth Development ).
The Georgetown SerToMa Club was chartered in 1979 as a 501(c)3. The amount of service projects are too numerous to list here. It is a dynamic organization that is well organized and very active in the community (known as the go-getters). We have raised over $250,000 while developing relationships with other local organizations and have fun doing it while building life-long friendships. SerToMa meetings are held every Thursday at noon.
